A Collaboration of Independent Clinicians
Holly Conlee, LMHC, NCC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Holly earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa. After working in the field of corrections and recognizing a high need for providers in the mental health community, she returned to college and received a Master of Science in Education Degree in Community Counseling from Western Illinois University. She has worked in hospital and private practice settings as a therapist.
Holly is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She offers individual, marriage/domestic partnership and family therapy and has experience working with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, phase of life concerns, anger management, serious acute/chronic illness, parenting and co-parenting, separation/divorce, and blended family concerns. She is welcoming of the LGBTQ+ community. She also enjoys working with corrections employees, law enforcement and other professions including dispatchers, firefighters, EMT/paramedics, and medical professionals in Emergency Department settings.
Holly has utilized several different treatment modalities over the years and uses those that best suit each client. She has found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to be quite useful in navigating the stress in the day-to-day lives of her clients. These can be used interchangeably at times to recognize whether a client’s thoughts and feelings align with personal goals or values. She has a down-to-earth approach with clients and believes strongly in the therapeutic relationship for building trust and an alliance for the best possible outcome with identified goals.
Holly enjoys many hobbies and interests in her free time, including cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers, creating art, crafting, sewing, and collecting vintage and mid-century treasures. She has assisted with teaching dance for a number of years with girls of all ages. She and her husband Rob are new to the Des Moines area after living in Burlington, Iowa for many years. They look forward to exploring all that the city has to offer!
